A Amazon Web Services Case Study
QNAP Systems, founded in 2004, designs award-winning NAS and NVR solutions for businesses worldwide. By 2013 the company needed faster, more actionable insights from the event logs and usage data collected by its myQNAPcloud service; manual queries could take hours or days, so QNAP set a six-month goal to build a new analytics platform.
QNAP implemented the platform on AWS—using Amazon VPC, EC2 auto-scaling instances, S3, Elastic Load Balancing and Glacier for cost‑effective backups—and went live in March 2014. The solution processes roughly 200 million log entries per day with scalable compute, cutting query times from hours/days to minutes, enabling richer business reports, better visibility into user behavior and system health, and improved capacity planning; QNAP is now exploring real-time analytics with Amazon Kinesis and Redshift.
