Qihoo 360 - Customer Case Study

Qihoo 360 is one of China’s largest Internet and mobile security companies and sought to expand its browser and security services overseas. Because web businesses are infrastructure intensive, the company faced the decision to build its own international datacenters or adopt a third‑party platform that could meet requirements for availability, scalability, security, and cost while minimizing time to market.

After attending AWS re:Invent and conducting technical and TCO evaluations, Qihoo 360 built its international platform on AWS using Amazon EC2, EBS, S3, and CloudFront. The move cut deployment time from months to days, enabled rapid scaling to meet overseas demand, improved end‑user performance, and reduced CDN costs by about 30%; the company plans to run more applications on AWS and expand into additional regions.
