PostDot Technologies - Customer Case Study

PostDot Technologies, maker of the Postman API‑testing and development tool, was founded in 2014 to commercialize a Chrome‑launched app used by millions of developers. The company needed a more dynamic, flexible infrastructure than on‑premises systems could offer, but its initial cloud provider couldn’t scale reliably—database and load‑balancing overheads diverted engineers from product work and created service problems as usage grew.

In March 2015 PostDot migrated to AWS, adopting Elastic Beanstalk, CloudWatch, Lambda, Amazon VPC and AWS Support to automate capacity provisioning, scaling, monitoring and security. The move cut infrastructure management, enabled auto‑scaling and auto‑healing for peak traffic, supported rapid service rollout (spin up in a day, beta in a day, production in 2–3 days), and helped grow cloud users from ~650,000 to about 1.1 million while delivering 99.99% availability, ~300 ms latency, and the ability to ship multiple daily releases.
