Case Study: polljoy achieves low-cost, high-availability, scalable in-app polling with Amazon Web Services

A Amazon Web Services Case Study

Preview of the polljoy Case Study

polljoy - Customer Case Study

Founded in 2012, polljoy provides an in‑app SDK that helps mobile developers gather user feedback and boost app store ratings. At launch the founders faced prohibitive upfront datacenter costs and needed infrastructure that met a 99.99% availability target, supported global users, scaled elastically for traffic spikes, and remained secure without large fixed investments.

polljoy built its stack on AWS—using EC2 with Elastic Load Balancing, S3, RDS, CloudFront, and multi‑Availability Zone redundancy—allowing the team to deploy quickly and pay monthly. The result: no AWS‑caused downtime, REST API latencies of 100–300 ms, capacity for about 1,000 user requests per second at peak, strong security, rapid feature releases, and a cost structure that made the business viable.
