Playtech Improves Reliability by Delivering Low-Latency Video Globally Using Amazon CloudFront and Lambda@Edge

Playtech, a global live casino and video streaming company, needed to improve reliability and deliver low-latency video to players worldwide. Its previous CDN setup struggled with traffic spikes, uneven video quality across regions, and slow, manual expansion into new markets. AWS services such as Amazon CloudFront and Amazon EC2 were central to the migration.

Amazon Web Services implemented a more resilient cloud architecture using CloudFront, Lambda@Edge, Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling, and AWS CloudFormation. This enabled Playtech to route traffic dynamically across multiple Regions, reduce latency, and scale automatically during large events. The results included more reliable streaming, support for more simultaneous users, improved cost efficiency, and the ability to launch into new Regions in 10–15 minutes.
