A Amazon Web Services Case Study
PIX System is a global collaboration and asset‑sharing platform used by film and entertainment professionals to securely upload, transcode, watermark, and share media files. Facing aging on‑premises hardware, limited storage and compute capacity, long lead times for new servers, and 24/7 availability requirements, PIX needed to move more than 450 TiB of encrypted customer data to a more scalable, secure environment without disrupting users.
PIX migrated to AWS using AWS Direct Connect, EC2 (C3/C4), EBS, RDS, S3, and Lambda, completing a seamless eight‑hour switchover. Post‑migration the company saw a 30% increase in download speed, ~40% higher batch transcoding capacity, a 40% reduction in application load, 16× more storage at about half the cost, system alerts near zero, and the flexibility to scale and pursue new real‑time transcoding and CI/CD initiatives.
