A Amazon Web Services Case Study
Pentair, a global leader in fluid-management solutions across industries like food & beverage, aquaculture, and building systems, faced a proliferation of custom, siloed connected-product projects that caused long development times, mismatched technologies, and limited reuse of components and skills. To overcome these challenges the company created a centralized R&D team charged with standardizing technologies and identifying new business models for connected products.
Working with AWS and IoT partner Bright Wolf, Pentair adopted a common AWS-based IoT platform and reusable reference architecture (including AWS IoT Core, S3, RDS/DynamoDB, Machine Learning, Greengrass, and other services). The result: faster time to market, standardized analytics and visualization, support for low-cost commodity edge devices (replacing expensive PLCs), enterprise-grade scalability and availability, and a reusable foundation that unlocks new use cases and revenue opportunities across business units.
