Papaya Mobile - Customer Case Study

Papaya Mobile is an international mobile social networking and gaming platform founded by Si Shen and Qian Wenjie, with R&D in Beijing, business development in San Francisco, and about 8 million users worldwide. After outgrowing its collocated physical servers near San Francisco, the company searched for a more flexible, remotely manageable infrastructure and selected Amazon Web Services for its reputation and scalability.

Papaya migrated its U.S. service to AWS using Amazon EC2, EBS, S3 and Elastic IPs, and manages instances programmatically with Python and Boto. The move eliminated routine data‑center work—saving hundreds of hours in server management—reduced overhead, enabled remote control and automatic scaling, and freed staff to focus on product development; the company is also adopting Elastic Load Balancing to improve traffic distribution.
