Origin Energy Speeds Migration, Enhances Security, and Cuts Costs with AWS Customer Enablement

Origin Energy, a leading Australian energy company, needed to accelerate its cloud migration while exiting two data centers and improving agility, security, and cost efficiency. To speed the move and operate at scale, Origin partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS), using AWS Customer Enablement services including AWS Managed Services (AMS) and AWS Professional Services, alongside partner Contino.

Amazon Web Services helped Origin migrate critical applications such as billing, customer care, trading, payroll, and document management to AWS, while re-architecting workloads with services like AWS Lambda and Amazon RDS. The results included 96% infrastructure automation for managed workloads, 30% faster batch processing, 84% faster report runs, and a 94% reduction in recovery time objective, plus stronger security with over 100 controls and significant cost savings from reduced data center reliance and better right-sizing.
