OnScale - Customer Case Study

OnScale, a developer of multi‑physics engineering solvers, set out to democratize high‑performance compute for engineers who were constrained by traditional licensing models and local hardware limits. Facing slow iteration cycles and costly physical prototyping, the company wanted a cloud‑first Solver‑as‑a‑Service to let users run large, parallel simulations on demand and pay via SaaS subscriptions.

Working with AWS partner nClouds, OnScale containerized its solvers and re‑architected to a serverless AWS stack (API Gateway, Lambda, ECR, EC2, S3, Cognito, KMS) to scale compute securely. The team launched a beta in 6–8 weeks and now runs large parallel workloads (e.g., 400 simulations in two minutes versus a day locally), cutting time and cost for customers while making virtually limitless HPC resources broadly accessible.
