A Amazon Web Services Case Study
Oasis.com is a free, ad-supported online dating service based in Sydney with more than 9 million members and rapid monthly growth. The company needed a partner to streamline storage and delivery of 57 million member images and to improve real‑time chat availability for international users — routing chat through Sydney caused latency — while freeing the team to focus on product development instead of operations.
Oasis moved its chat infrastructure to AWS using Amazon EC2 and Amazon RDS and migrated image storage and global delivery to Amazon S3 and CloudFront. The change eliminated much of the operational overhead, enabled automated redundancy, cut backup time and costs by about half, and made images available almost instantly (around 60 ms) worldwide, while turning chat into a reliable, low‑maintenance service.
