Nisa Retail - Customer Case Study

Nisa Retail is a member-owned UK wholesaler that supports more than 1,000 independent retailers and over 4,000 stores with negotiated pricing, supply chain and marketing services, generating about £1.58 billion in annual sales. The company wanted a mobile app so busy retailers could quickly take advantage of time‑sensitive deals, but needed to avoid disrupting its complex, revenue‑critical order-capture system (OCS), which tailors a catalogue of 24,000 products by location and store type.

Working with Intechnica and AWS, Nisa deployed the mobile API and app on EC2 with DynamoDB, S3 for incoming orders, CloudFront for static content and caching to protect the OCS, which remains on Oracle in their data centre. The cloud approach cut development time by an estimated 3–4 months, enabled safe experimentation with storage and testing environments, delivered a failover ordering system for resilience, and has seen roughly half of members adopt the app—giving Nisa confidence to pursue further cloud migration.
