Nicobar Reduces IT Costs of its ERP Solution by 10% Using AWS

Nicobar is an Indian retailer of contemporary home furnishings and apparel that sells online and through eight physical stores, targeting young, style-conscious consumers. Although most of its infrastructure was cloud-based, its Microsoft Dynamics NAV ERP ran on Azure with under 90% availability—well below the 99% uptime the business required—and the company wanted a platform that was easy to manage and could scale without adding IT overhead.

Nicobar migrated Dynamics NAV to AWS with partner Umbrella Infocare, running the application on EC2, Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL, and using S3, CloudFront, and Lambda for supporting services. The move boosted ERP availability to 99.99%, reduced ERP costs by about 10% after switching to PostgreSQL, kept IT management costs steady (allowing ~80% of IT resources to focus on development), and provided scalable architecture to support future growth.
