Next Media - Customer Case Study

Next Media, the largest listed multimedia group in Hong Kong with print and digital publications across Hong Kong and Taiwan, faced a critical availability and scalability challenge: its collocated data‑center infrastructure was vulnerable to outages and DDoS attacks, could not cost‑effectively absorb traffic spikes during major events, and required a fast migration before its contract expired.

The IT team migrated Hong Kong operations to AWS in about 2.5 months, deploying a distributed architecture using EC2 with Auto Scaling and ELB, RDS/ElastiCache, S3, Route 53, Redshift, Elastic Beanstalk and third‑party analytics in the cloud. The move improved resilience to DDoS and ISP disruptions, enabled faster app launches and analytics (reporting built in one month versus three), avoided buying roughly 50 servers, kept operating costs stable while cutting capital expenditure, and simplified remote operations—with Enterprise Support delivering proactive guidance.
