News Distribution Network (NDN) - Customer Case Study

News Distribution Network (NDN) is a SaaS media company founded in 2007 that helps publishers and brands monetize and distribute video through a revenue-sharing Digital Media Exchange. Faced with publishers’ rising costs and the industry’s difficulty funding, distributing, and tracking video at scale, NDN needed a way to deliver high-quality, brand-safe video to thousands of sites without heavy capital investment or complex on-premises infrastructure.

NDN built its global media-exchange platform on Amazon Web Services—using EC2, S3, CloudFront, Redshift, Kinesis, and other services—to automate embedding, deliver contextual recommendations, monitor player performance in real time, and scale on demand. The result: predictable costs, 600 million video views per month across 146 million unique viewers, 40 ms average latency for player payloads, a major syndication deal with the Associated Press, and profitable growth while remaining privately funded.
