A Amazon Web Services Case Study
Neowiz Games, a South Korean online game publisher with over 40 titles and roughly six million players on its Pmang portal, was expanding into 20+ countries but struggling with rising costs, long server/storage delivery cycles, and unpredictable demand from using its own data centers and colocation. By 2011 the company began evaluating cloud options to speed development and control costs.
Neowiz selected AWS for its global, highly available infrastructure and platform flexibility, migrating core services onto EC2, S3, CloudFront, ELB, RDS, ElastiCache, Route 53 and Auto Scaling across two Availability Zones with AWS Support. The move cut infrastructure provisioning from 1–2 months to about five minutes, reduced deployment time by more than 80%, removed hardware bottlenecks, and allowed the team to focus on launching new games and expanding geographically.
