NBCU Uses AWS to Build First-Party Data Solution within Its One Platform Technology Stack

NBCUniversal used Amazon Web Services (AWS) to support its One Platform technology stack and build a first-party data solution for managing massive data volumes and improving forecasting across linear and digital advertising. The challenge was to more effectively process big data, scale reporting, and enable precision planning across a growing mix of media workloads.

With AWS, NBCUniversal migrated 4 PB of data to an AWS data lake and used services including Amazon EMR, Amazon EC2, and AWS Lambda to power large-scale processing, machine learning, and near-real-time reporting. As a result, NBCUniversal gained greater agility, handled Olympic data spikes without latency, delivered near-real-time delivery analysis, and improved cost efficiency compared with an on-premises approach.
