MyDress, an e-commerce service for fashion labels selling into Hong Kong, needed a more secure and scalable platform to support 24/7 availability and rapid growth after a DDoS attack disrupted its on-premises data center. Amazon Web Services helped MyDress migrate its Magento platform and related systems to the cloud, using Elastic Load Balancing, Amazon EC2, Amazon S3, Amazon RDS, and Amazon ElastiCache. With Amazon Web Services, MyDress achieved about 99.99% availability, gained the ability to handle traffic spikes of up to 100%, reduced operating expenditure by 20% annually over two years, and saved an estimated HK$600,000 by avoiding the purchase of up to three physical servers.
