A Amazon Web Services Case Study

Preview of the Movinary Case Study

Movinary - Customer Case Study

movinary, a Berlin-based startup, provides a cloud-hosted platform that turns customers' photos into personalized videos for events like weddings and birthdays. The company needed a globally scalable e-commerce architecture (Magento) and high CPU capacity for fast, personalized video rendering while using common web technologies (PHP, MySQL, JavaScript/Flash) and keeping setup, security, and privacy simple.

movinary deployed on AWS—using EC2 (reserved instances and Windows renderers), Elastic Load Balancing, Auto Scaling, Amazon RDS, S3, CloudWatch and more—so the cloud renderer can spin up instances per render and the web and database tiers scale automatically. The move enabled rapid production launch, reliable handling of ~3,000 daily visits with peaks up to 20,000 concurrent users, better performance and cost efficiency, and simplified operations and backups.
