A Amazon Web Services Case Study
Moovit is a transit app that provides real-time schedules, trip planning, navigation and crowdsourced updates to millions of users worldwide. After rapid growth—reaching 100,000 users in four months and serving diverse data types (text, images, binary) across many cities—Moovit needed a scalable, highly available cloud solution to handle billions of requests per month and avoid the operational overhead of managing physical servers.
Moovit moved to Amazon Web Services, using CloudFront, EC2, RDS, DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch, EBS and Elastic Load Balancing to cache content globally, support multiple databases, monitor systems, and route traffic. The result: Moovit now handles about 85 million requests per day, delivers 24/7 availability, can launch a new city every other day, avoid large capital and staffing costs, and scale easily for future growth.
