Momenta Migrates to Amazon EKS for Automatic Cluster Scalability and Upgrades

Momenta, an autonomous driving technology company, was running self-managed Kubernetes clusters to support its growing container workloads, but it faced rising challenges with scaling, availability, cost, and frequent offline updates. As its global business expanded, maintaining open-source Kubernetes became increasingly complex and operationally burdensome, prompting Momenta to move to Amazon Web Services and Amazon EKS.

Amazon Web Services helped Momenta migrate to Amazon EKS in just two months, providing a fully managed Kubernetes environment with automatic node replacement, zero-downtime upgrades, and easier integration with AWS tools and services. After the migration, Momenta could flexibly use Amazon EC2 Reserved Instances and Spot Instances to scale efficiently, improve workload performance, and achieve significant compute cost savings while supporting production-level clusters with a smaller team.
