Case Study: Mod.io achieves low-latency global scaling with Amazon Web Services

A Amazon Web Services Case Study

Preview of the Mod.io Case Study

mod.io Provides Low Latency Gamer Experience Globally on AWS

mod.io, a global gaming platform, wanted better support, faster scaling, and lower-latency experiences as its traffic and user base grew. The company had already used Amazon Web Services for storage with Amazon S3, and in 2021 it moved fully from on-premises infrastructure to the AWS Cloud, choosing Amazon Web Services for its responsive support and familiarity with the platform.

Amazon Web Services helped mod.io modernize with managed services including AWS Lambda, AWS Elastic Beanstalk, and Amazon Aurora across multiple AWS Regions. The result was instant autoscaling, no major outages after migration, and the ability to double API requests overnight without downtime; daily active users grew from 240,000 to 530,000 while engineering headcount did not need to scale one-for-one. mod.io also cut global latency from 700 milliseconds to 250 milliseconds on AWS.
