Modernizing Speech Data Collection Using AWS with Cerebral Palsy Alliance

Cerebral Palsy Alliance wanted a better way to collect speech data from children with dysarthria, so it launched My Voice Library with help from Amazon Web Services. The organization needed a scalable, cost-effective, cloud-based platform to support a pilot voice database and improve the experience for young users.

Amazon Web Services helped build the solution in 10 weeks using AWS services including Amazon EC2, Amazon S3, and Amazon EBS. The result was a customizable game-like app that captures speech, voice, and facial-movement data; the pilot is expected to grow to about 100 users by 2025 and create a foundation for future research and personalized speech solutions.
