MMGN - Customer Case Study

My Media Gaming Network (MMGN), founded in 2006 in Melbourne, runs a popular gaming community site and a consulting arm that embeds social technology for clients. Rapid growth—more than 6 million conversations and 60 moderators—and highly variable traffic strained a leased, capped datacenter setup (up to 12 servers), causing frequent bandwidth overages, high penalties, and slow provisioning (up to two weeks) that hindered product demos and client work.

MMGN migrated to AWS (Asia Pacific/Sydney), using EC2, S3/CloudFront, RDS, ElastiCache and Auto Scaling to handle compute, storage, caching and global delivery. The move cut operating costs by about 50% and bandwidth costs by 90%, slashed project provisioning from weeks to minutes, and provided the elasticity and reliability to support spikes from tens of thousands to millions of users.
