MiX Telematics - Customer Case Study

MiX Telematics is a global SaaS provider of fleet and mobile-asset management used by more than 566,000 subscribers in about 120 countries. The company struggled with time-consuming, costly disaster recovery and backup processes that required paying for idle secondary resources, and needed a scalable, low-latency global infrastructure with clearer, consumption-based billing and strong regulatory compliance.

MiX migrated its platform to Amazon Web Services, deploying a multi-region architecture and using services such as Amazon EC2, RDS, S3/Glacier and Route 53, with support from AWS staff. The move delivered a secure, fault-tolerant, low-latency global service, zero data-loss recovery points, better cost visibility and monthly billing, improved performance (notably in Australia/New Zealand), and simplified compliance—allowing MiX to control hosting costs without raising customer prices.
