Case Study: LiveSafe achieves real-time, scalable mobile safety with Amazon Web Services

A Amazon Web Services Case Study

Preview of the LiveSafe Case Study

Mission to Make the World a Safer Place through Crowdsourced Intelligence

LiveSafe is a mobile safety communications platform that uses crowdsourced intelligence to prevent incidents and connect people directly with campus security. Founded by survivors of violent incidents, the company needed to ensure the app could scale quickly during emergencies, remain reliable on any device, protect sensitive data, support high-volume push communications, and keep costs low.

To meet those needs LiveSafe built on AWS—using Elastic Load Balancing for API scaling, Amazon VPC for environment separation, RDS and KMS for encrypted data storage, and EC2 to burst capacity for mass notifications—while leveraging AWS tools for testing and prototyping. The result is a secure, cost-efficient platform that can rapidly scale during crises, deliver timely two-way communications (including anonymous tips), and support the company’s growth and mission to make communities safer.
