Mirriad is a London-based video technology company that uses machine learning and computer vision to embed brand advertising into premium video content. The company’s challenge was scaling its intelligent ad-insertion platform beyond physical data centers—requiring fast, globally available NVIDIA GPU capacity and strong security for prerelease content—which made onboarding large clients slow (as long as nine months) and limited work in regions such as China.
Migrating to AWS and running EC2 G2/G3 GPU instances with Auto Scaling and AWS Trusted Advisor removed capacity bottlenecks and improved security and transparency. The move cut onboarding time by 98% (from months to days), saved about US$100,000 a year in GPU costs, and enabled large campaigns—such as a Youku/Tangeche project that delivered ~800 million impressions and raised brand awareness to 58% (up 17 percentage points).
