Louisiana Department of Corrections - Customer Case Study

The Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections, which manages nine state facilities and about 19,000 inmates, needed a secure, reliable way to deliver educational and vocational training without giving inmates Internet access. Its legacy on‑premises learning system suffered frequent downtime, was hard for the small IT team to maintain, and made it difficult to update content or scale the program across additional prisons.

Partnering with ATLO Software, the department deployed locked‑down training labs using Amazon WorkSpaces inside an Amazon VPC at four facilities, giving inmates access only to personal ATLO accounts. The cloud solution improved availability, cut IT overhead, enabled rapid 90‑minute lab deployments and easier content updates, and expanded access to college and job training—helping improve post‑release employment prospects and reduce recidivism.
