LightInTheBox - Customer Case Study

LightInTheBox (NYSE: LITB) is a Beijing‑based B2C retailer offering over 600,000 products to tens of millions of users and generating more than 200 million RMB annually. Rapid global growth and millions of cross‑border transactions strained its on‑premises servers, creating storage, scalability and availability challenges and prompting the company to seek a cost‑effective, globally deployable architecture.

LITB migrated its site, operations and analytics to AWS—using EC2, S3, SES and EMR with Hadoop—to enable on‑demand scaling, automatic load balancing and centralized storage. The move delivered about 99.9% availability, lower operating costs, faster execution and smoother international trade, and the company plans to expand its use of AWS (for example, with RDS).
