A Amazon Web Services Case Study

Preview of the Lafarge Case Study

Lafarge - Customer Case Study

LafargeHolcim, a global leader in building materials recognized for sustainability and innovation, faced the challenge of managing websites across more than 70 countries with widely varying traffic patterns. They needed high performance and the ability to add or remove servers on demand, plus robust development, test, pre-production, and production environments — so they decided to move their sites to AWS.

Using Amazon EC2 and S3 (and evaluating Amazon VPC), with a Java/J2EE, WebSphere, Oracle, Linux and Riverbed stack and support from EDIFIXIO, LafargeHolcim deployed its corporate site and 22 country sites to the cloud. The move delivered on-demand scalability for peak events, improved responsiveness and flexibility, a shift from capex to opex, and plans to roll out 20 more country sites and extend AWS to additional applications.
