Kidoodle.TV Uses AWS to Scale Ad-Supported Video Streaming 3,200% in 2020

Kidoodle.TV, a children’s streaming service, needed to rapidly scale during the COVID-19 pandemic as global demand surged, while maintaining high availability, low latency, child-safe content, and privacy across devices and regions. As an ad-supported platform, Kidoodle.TV also had to expand ad delivery and review workflows without compromising quality or compliance, using Amazon Web Services (AWS) services such as Amazon S3.

Amazon Web Services helped Kidoodle.TV expand its streaming and advertising infrastructure with Amazon EC2, AWS Auto Scaling, Amazon CloudFront, and AWS Elemental MediaTailor. The results were significant: Kidoodle.TV grew from 400,000 monthly active users to more than 12 million in 2020, reduced time to first frame from 3 seconds to 1.5 seconds, and scaled its staff from 24 to 75 employees while maintaining privacy through data anonymization.
