Kenworth & Slalom use Serverless Computing on AWS to Drive into the Future

Kenworth, a PACCAR company and leading manufacturer of heavy- and medium-duty trucks, faced fragmented data across many systems and manual processes that limited visibility and operational efficiency. Seeking a single source of truth and a move from on‑premises to cloud, Kenworth engaged AWS Premier Consulting Partner Slalom to help prioritize needs, run workshops, and prove a serverless analytics approach.

Slalom implemented a serverless PoC on AWS—ingesting flat files from multiple source systems into an S3 data lake with AWS Lambda, AWS Glue, Amazon Athena for queries, and Amazon QuickSight/Tableau for visualization—to enable rapid analysis without a traditional relational database. The solution delivered faster insights into the sales order lifecycle, improved back‑office efficiencies and factory‑floor accuracy, and established a repeatable cloud migration pattern with plans to expand into Amazon SageMaker and Kinesis while transferring knowledge to Kenworth’s teams.
