KAIST - Customer Case Study

KAIST’s Bio-Information System Laboratory (BISL) runs CORUS, a citizen-science project that rewards participants with cryptocurrency and therefore requires strong security and transaction integrity. With limited IT staff, the lab needed a platform that prioritized user convenience, secure blockchain-based transactions, and the ability to scale as participation grew.

BISL migrated CORUS to AWS, using managed services such as Amazon RDS and ECS for databases and containers, SQS/SNS and Lambda to guarantee transaction integrity, S3 for storage, EMR for analytics, CloudWatch and Auto Scaling for reliability, and CodeCommit/CodeDeploy/CodePipeline for zero-downtime development. The move cut infrastructure overhead, stabilized operations, enabled seamless updates, and provided the scalability needed to handle rapidly growing user numbers and tens to hundreds of thousands of data points.
