Jonas Fitness Sunsets Mainframe Using AWS Mainframe Modernization Automated Refactor

Jonas Fitness, a fitness software company, needed to modernize its mainframe-based payment applications and reduce the high cost and complexity of running legacy COBOL and IBM Db2 systems. It worked with Amazon Web Services, using AWS Mainframe Modernization Automated Refactor with AWS Blu Age, to migrate data and applications from its legacy data center to the cloud.

Amazon Web Services refactored the applications from COBOL to Java, moved data to PostgreSQL on Amazon Aurora, and replaced legacy screens with Angular web apps, while also using services like Amazon Cognito and AWS Fargate. As a result, Jonas Fitness completed its transition to AWS in May 2023 and cut costs by 90%, with the company reporting the new setup is 10 times less expensive and delivered over 100% ROI in less than a year.
