Intent Media - Customer Case Study

Intent Media is a travel-focused predictive-analytics company that processes billions of visitor events daily to boost conversions and ad revenue. Their existing analytics ran on a 15-node Vertica cluster on Amazon EC2 and was constrained by a 23 TB license, high up-front and ongoing costs, significant administrative overhead (roughly two full-time equivalents), and periodic outages that disrupted reporting and growth.

Working with Full 360, Intent Media migrated its data warehouse to Amazon Redshift in about three months—moving raw data to Amazon S3, updating ETL, and using Full 360’s UpShift tuning and testing. The move cut the cluster from 15 Vertica nodes to four Redshift nodes while maintaining query performance, sped nightly loads about threefold, improved availability, eliminated much daily administration, enabled on-demand scalability, and is expected to save roughly $1.5 million a year in operating costs.
