Improving DDoS Attack Response Using AWS Shield with Bitbank

bitbank, a cryptocurrency exchange, needed a faster way to distinguish normal traffic spikes from DDoS attacks and respond without delays or extra approvals. To improve its security operations, it worked with Amazon Web Services and used AWS Shield Advanced, along with AWS WAF and AWS CloudFormation, to redesign its attack response workflow.

With Amazon Web Services, bitbank implemented a predetermined mitigation process that teams can follow immediately when an attack is detected, and it also gained access to AWS Shield Response Team support. The company completed most of the rollout by October 2022 and was able to switch protections and stop a detected attack within a few hours, improving response speed and helping preserve service availability for customers.
