A Amazon Web Services Case Study
iFit is a Taiwan-based health and wellness company that began as an online fitness community in 2012 and has grown into an e-commerce and brick-and-mortar retailer. Heavy online marketing on platforms like LINE and Facebook can drive traffic spikes of up to 50× during campaigns, but iFit’s previous cloud provider required time-consuming, manual scaling and repetitive management tasks that hindered responsiveness and feature development.
iFit migrated to AWS in April 2014 (completed in under a week), moving web servers, databases, and media to services such as Route 53, ELB, EC2, S3/CloudFront, RDS, and SES. The change cut infrastructure management time by up to 80%, allowed three IT staff to be redeployed to development (doubling feature rollout speed), reduced costs to about one-third of the prior environment, and shortened scaling time to half a day while delivering low latency for Taiwanese users—enabling future plans for machine-learning enhancements.
