IFFCO improves IT operations efficiency by at least 80% using AWS

The Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO), one of India’s largest cooperative societies serving about 55 million farmers through 36,000 cooperative societies, set out to connect rural farmers to a single multilingual digital platform for e-commerce and education. Facing tight timelines, legacy on-premises infrastructure, and concerns about rural internet speeds, IFFCO needed a fast, scalable way to deliver an online portal that would let farmers order inputs, access product guidance, and participate in the digital economy.

IFFCO partnered with AWS and APN partner Umbrella Infocare to deploy a Magento-based e-commerce site on Amazon EC2, RDS, VPC and related services, adding video streaming via S3, Lambda, Elastic Transcoder and CloudFront; the portal went live in three days and integrated with logistics APIs for seven-day delivery. The cloud solution delivered at least an 80% improvement in IT operations efficiency, more than 50% cost savings, no downtime, and helped farmers increase crop yields by over 25%; IFFCO has since launched the IFFCO YUVA jobs portal (150+ employers, ~1,000 jobs, 22,800 visitors in three months).
