Hudl - Customer Case Study

Hudl, a sports video platform serving 4.5 million coaches and athletes on 130,000 teams worldwide, needed to support 30% annual growth while handling massive video ingestion, encoding, and analytics demands. By running on Amazon Web Services, including AWS Auto Scaling, Amazon S3 Transfer Acceleration, and Amazon Redshift, Hudl could scale reliably without capacity issues and improve internal data performance.

Amazon Web Services helped Hudl ingest and encode more than 39 hours of HD video per minute during sports seasons and spin up 2,000 servers for Friday night football encoding. AWS also boosted video upload and encoding speeds by at least 20%, while Amazon Redshift improved data warehouse consistency and usability; more than 50% of the company has used Redshift queries. Hudl also reported significantly lower compute and storage costs year over year.
