Case Study: Volkswagen Financial Services achieves centralized governance and faster remediation with Amazon Web Services

A Amazon Web Services Case Study

Preview of the Volkswagen Financial Services Case Study

How Volkswagen Financial Services scaled its governance and security management practices using AWS Organizations.

Volkswagen Financial Services’ MPS team faced the challenge of governing and securing 1,600 AWS accounts with a small team of eight, while managing compliance, monitoring, auditing, and vulnerability reporting across more than 40 services. Using Amazon Web Services products including AWS Organizations, AWS Config, Amazon Inspector, AWS Systems Manager, and AWS Security Hub, the team needed to automate operations and centralize visibility at scale.

Amazon Web Services helped Volkswagen Financial Services build a highly automated governance and security model that centralized policies, findings, and remediation across all accounts. The result was much faster vulnerability identification and remediation, including detecting the Log4j issue in minutes, fixing a zero-day affecting 80 servers within 24 hours, accelerating account provisioning by 15–20 minutes per batch, and saving hundreds of thousands of euros in licensing costs through Amazon Inspector’s pay-as-you-go model.
