Case Study: QEdu scales data-driven improvements in Brazil’s public education with Amazon Web Services

A Amazon Web Services Case Study

How Technology and Data are Transforming Brazil’s Public Education

QEdu is an education nonprofit tackling Brazil’s vast schooling challenge, where only 14% of students reach expected learning levels in mathematics and 30% in Portuguese by the end of middle school. The organization aims to reverse these outcomes by making education data visible and actionable for policymakers, school leaders, teachers, and students.

QEdu’s Portal and QEdu Provas use technology to contextualize national results and streamline assessments, cutting grading time and costs while delivering richer data for instructional planning. In pilots across four cities, schools ran online tests successfully (including students with special needs), principals led data-driven action plans, and districts began using results to change teaching practices — efforts that QEdu scales on AWS to move faster and reach more students.
