How NextGen Healthcare enhanced its migration processes as it continues to modernize using AWS

NextGen Healthcare, a provider of healthcare technology solutions, was modernizing a mix of legacy systems created through acquisitions and needed to improve reliability, security, compliance, and cost efficiency. Its on-premises infrastructure was expensive and hard to manage, and the company turned to Amazon Web Services (AWS) to support migration and standardization across more than 100 AWS accounts.

Amazon Web Services implemented a cloud modernization approach using AWS Control Tower, automation, infrastructure as code, and managed services such as Amazon SQS and Amazon Aurora. With AWS, NextGen Healthcare achieved 100% uptime for its Patient Portal for 12 months after migration, increased Virtual Visits by 140x in two months during COVID-19, reduced costs, improved security and compliance, and lowered operational burden by closing 13 of 16 data centers.
