How Mahou San Miguel Slashes IT Costs with AWS

Mahou San Miguel, Spain’s largest brewing group (makers of Mahou, San Miguel, and Alhambra), expanded rapidly through acquisitions in India and the United States and faced fragmented web hosting and an incompatible ERP at its new Indian brewery. The company also needed to handle large-scale data (a prior project stored 45 billion redemption codes), so it sought a faster, lower-cost way to consolidate hosting and deploy a web-based ERP.

Working with AWS and consulting partner Linke, Mahou consolidated websites into a single AWS account and launched the ERP in the cloud using services such as Amazon RDS and Amazon VPC. The cloud approach cut project cost and delivery time by about 50% (ERP went live in six months versus an estimated year on-premises), reduced hosting costs dramatically (a museum site dropped from €8,000/year to ~€20/year), and moved about 95% of the company’s web pages to the cloud, improving agility and IT credibility.
