Case Study: Kemppi halves development costs and accelerates IoT time-to-market with Amazon Web Services

A Amazon Web Services Case Study

How Kemppi brings its IoT solution to market faster and saves 50% on development costs using AWS

Kemppi, a Finnish maker of welding equipment and application software, needed a more scalable, secure way to deliver its WeldEye cloud-based welding management platform for the new X8 IoT welder. Running on VMs limited deployment cadence and drove up infrastructure and hosting costs, so the company sought a cloud architecture that would speed development, enable frequent releases, and support future device growth.

Kemppi rebuilt WeldEye on AWS using a serverless microservices stack (AWS Lambda, Amazon IoT Core, S3, DynamoDB, Amazon Elasticsearch Service, API Gateway, IAM), allowing a small team to deliver the product to market in about six months. The migration cut software development and hosting costs by roughly 50%, reduced time-to-market to two-thirds of the original estimate, enabled near-zero downtime, and supports continuous deployment of up to ten releases per week while improving security and scalability.
