A Amazon Web Services Case Study
HostedFTP, a Toronto-based company, offers a web-based alternative to traditional FTP for businesses that need secure, easy file sharing. They set out to solve common FTP problems—poor security, complex user access, lack of notifications and version control, and high hardware and software costs—by delivering a modern, browser-accessible file-transfer service.
HostedFTP migrated entirely to Amazon Web Services, using S3 for file storage, EC2 for web and database hosting, and EBS for code management, enabling zero-downtime deployments. The move cut infrastructure and admin costs, sped testing and deployment by about 40%, and unlocked infinite scalability and a white-label reseller model—letting the company focus on product development instead of hardware.
