Haven Power, an Ipswich-based energy supplier for small and medium-sized businesses, experienced rapid growth but was constrained by a five-year-old hybrid IT estate that offered limited testing, scalability and no full disaster recovery (DR) plan. Facing the need for a cost-effective, resilient platform to support growth, the company evaluated options and chose to move key systems to the cloud.

Working with AWS partner KCOM, Haven replicated its production environment in AWS across multiple Availability Zones, migrated its mission‑critical billing system using CloudFormation and Direct Connect, and adopted services such as EBS Provisioned IOPS, S3/Glacier, Route 53 and SNS with SmartSentinel for management. The move delivered a 5–6x performance boost (average response time cut from 500 ms to 80 ms), at least £250,000 in upfront savings, and improved agility, capacity management and reduced maintenance overhead.
