Gujarat Technological University - Customer Case Study

Gujarat Technological University (GTU), established in 2007, serves roughly 500,000 students a year across about 500 locations and experienced rapid growth that overwhelmed its on-premises servers. With daily website traffic around 50,000 (peaking to 100,000) and outages lasting up to three days, GTU faced unacceptable availability and scaling challenges and did not want to overprovision costly infrastructure for occasional peaks.

GTU migrated its applications and services to AWS—using Amazon EC2, EBS, S3, Glacier, CloudWatch, Route 53, VPC, load balancing, and security groups—while training its IT team and tuning usage patterns to reduce costs. The move delivered 99.999% availability, stronger security, the ability to scale from thousands to tens of thousands of concurrent users, and lower overall cost compared with physical data-center infrastructure.
