Goodman Group - Customer Case Study

Goodman Group, a Sydney‑headquartered global integrated property manager with hundreds of properties and thousands of customers, set out to consolidate its IT and knowledge‑management systems using Microsoft SharePoint. Running SharePoint 2010 from hosted data centers caused network latency for distant offices, frequent unplanned outages, and failing search/index jobs that forced 60‑hour full updates; storage consumption approached a terabyte in 12 months, limiting enterprise search and performance.

Goodman migrated its knowledge platform to AWS, deploying SharePoint 2013 on Amazon EC2 across Availability Zones with Elastic Load Balancing, Amazon VPC, DocAve for management, S3 for archives, and AWS Direct Connect to the corporate network—implemented with partner Ujelo. The move cut full indexing time by 90% (60 to 6 hours), delivered near‑100% availability, met sub‑3‑second response targets, avoided a $400k SAN purchase, scaled storage from 1 TB to 1.3 TB (growing 60–80 GB/month), and enabled faster rollout and future mobile and global expansion.
