Gett - Customer Case Study

Gett is an Israeli startup that connects riders with taxi drivers across more than 50 cities, including New York, London, and Moscow. Growing at about 300% annually, the company needed to rapidly scale its website and mobile back end to meet demand, cut costs, extract better business insights from data, and maintain flexible production and development environments.

Gett built its platform on AWS—using several hundred EC2 instances with Auto Scaling, Amazon Redshift for warehousing, EMR (on EC2 Spot Instances) for big‑data processing, and AWS CodeCommit for DevOps. This allowed rapid provisioning, on‑demand Hadoop clusters, and heavy use of Spot Instances (≈65% of production, ≈90% of non‑production), delivering greater agility, improved analytics, and roughly $800,000 in annual cost savings.
