Genomics England Develops Genomic and Health Information Platform on AWS to Turn Science into Healthcare

Genomics England, created by the UK’s NHS to advance genomic medicine, faced the challenge of managing and sharing rapidly growing whole-genome datasets from rare disease and cancer patients at massive scale. To support its move from a one-time project to a long-term platform, Genomics England turned to Amazon Web Services (AWS) and AWS Professional Services to provide secure, privacy-compliant access for researchers.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) helped Genomics England build a cloud-based genomic and health information platform designed for scalable collaboration and analysis. The solution enabled reliable access to huge datasets and is supporting the UK’s goal of sequencing up to 5 million genomes, helping accelerate diagnoses, drug discovery, and the shift from research into clinical healthcare.
